Visual:
Either a slender dark-skinned woman in a black and red suit and often insolent posture, or one of a variety of predators, saber-toothed cat being her favorite.

Audio:
I (the player) is deaf, I dunno what Shadow sounds like lol. Feel free to imagine her sounding like whatever.

Scent:
She smells like the fear of a predator lurking right behind you, right now. Or if you want a less abstract scent (but she does do that particular scent, she's weird like that), she often smells like large cat or another predator.

Psychic:
Psychic type senses will pretty much get an impression of a pretty looking and friendly barrier. Seriously, it's gorgeous, flowers and frolicking saber-tooth cats everywhere across it. Unless she's going in stealth mode, then she's largely invisible to such senses.

Magic:
She does have some innate resistance against that, but if you want to have wacky magic hijinks, hit me up and we can talk! To magical senses, she comes off as, like, intensely magical. Practically oozing the stuff. Unless, again, she's in stealth mode. Also, she can sense the stuff.

Gender
She just likes feminine forms. She can take on other forms and has, that's just what she wears the most.

What she is:
An ancient incarnation of nightmares of ambush predators. Basically her nature is to scare people. Dream entity who can take solid form.

Content warnings:
Death and loss, that's a big theme in her life story. Other than that, no warnings in particular.

Please don't:
Transphobia. A character talking about transphobia that happened to them or someone else is fine, tho. I have a high tolerance for most other things.

Physical touching:
She has no problems with it in general, but she'll only let friends pet her. Relevant because she turns into some very pettable things.

Romance stuff:
No problems with it from either me or the character.

Violence:
She won't appreciate it but go ahead! Do talk with me about how things would turn out.

Backtagging/threadhopping/other posting stuff:
Go ahead, maximum post anarchy! Just give me a headers up before you jump into a thread. And someone fourth walling an OC would be genuinely funny, so I'm actually not gonna say no to that.

Abilities:
She knows all kinds of magic and can cast spells on people like cursing them or nailing them to the walls of reality or whatever. It's not something she tends to do to anyone that isn't an outright enemy. Once she killed part of a facet of reality itself, but that took two hundred years of prep, a lot of pissed off dinosaur ghosts, and a literal spiritual bomb. Her specialties are mainly creating things, travel/teleportation, and breaking in and breaking out.

What she does do a lot of is messing with people with illusions and fear projection (i.e. the unnerving sensation of something dangerous following you). She can dive into dreams and mess with them. She can also innately sense fear, it's like a shark and blood. Also good sense of smell and hearing. She also has basically a third eye that lets her sense stuff like spirits, ghosts, magic and so on.

And because someone gave me the idea, she can sense fellow predators (on a case-by-case basis and only if you specifically give me permission).

She can turn into various shapes including people and all sorts of ambush predators, including dinosaur ones. Also, she's pretty good with fighting with claws and teeth and stuff. She's really good at getting behind people and staying there, like supernaturally good.

Jumpscares are fine (though might get weird reactions on the fight/flight/turn into a mug axis), fucking with his fears of unreality/"this is all a simulation" will get him Big Mad.
Can Shadow enter/mess with your characters' dreams? Yes, But: Ghost is already prone to psychic-nonsense related lucid dreaming, so he might just realize that hey this isn't normal, especially because most of the time he tends to dream more "straight memories" than normal humans.

Yeah, Shadow mainly does jump scares and "oh no you're being followed by something dangerous". She's capable of doing other illusions, but that's pretty much the main ways she messes with people. And her pranks are more of the lighthearted type like drawing on someone's face while they're out. Or stealing a food item and replacing it with something else, typically a huge hunk of meat or the occasional congratulations cake.

As for dream messing, yeah, Ghost would definitely notice large ambush predator animals suddenly being added to his dreams.

If yes, what might she sense? I'm cool with basically anything. Most notably that he's essentially remote-possessing his body (his soul is in his bird), he's got a lot of powerful abilities of varying flavors and origins, and also he's got psychic protection.
Can Shadow prank your character? Yeah, within reason. He's likely to try to prank back, though.
Can Shadow mess with your character with illusions/fear stuff? Yes, within reason. Triggering one of his phobias will get a strong response and tank CR for a while, even if he knows what she is. (One is crabs/crustaceans/shellfish (general 'buggy' sea creatures) especially if they're anthropomorphic, particularly crabs. The other one is gunshot sounds which elicits less of a collapsing fear response than a frozen for a moment fear response.)
Can Shadow enter/mess with your characters' dreams? ... To some degree. Probably if his emotional vulnerability is peaking. He does have some psychic defenses, but it's not impossible. Might wanna be careful there since he does have eldritch-fueled premonitions before missions.

However he does have the inability to be caught by surprise by game mechanics (no one can take a surprise round on him) so startling him is likely to be difficult. Also even if he can't see or hear her he can almost definitely smell her.

Shadow has ways to mask her scent, but, yeah, she'd likely have to settle on "you sense something ominous following you" instead of trying for a jump scare.

If yes, what might she sense? Another remote body piloter. The spiritual energy around him is very strong - he's essentially been turned into Shinjuku's guardian spirit.
Can Shadow prank your character? ... Can she? Yes. Should she? ... Probably not wise if you want Otoha to still be friendly, depending on the prank.
Can Shadow mess with your character with illusions/fear stuff? Yeah. He's not likely to give much in the way of energy.
Can Shadow enter/mess with your characters' dreams? There's a bit of protection but yeah, pretty easily.
Any other notes? Otoha is a former yakuza enforcer so he might smell 'predator' to her. He has a congenital insensitivity to pain, and his emotional responses other than anger are... fairly dulled due to traumatized upbringing.

The worst Shadow does is stealing a bit of someone's food and replacing it with a huge hunk of meat or in appropriate occasions a large congratulations cake. Other than that, it's mostly silly stuff like drawing on people's faces, giving wrong directions, generalized trolling.

Also, Thanatos is low-key always anxious on the train due to: having been shackled and locked in a small chest for a month (train is bigger box), worrying about his home (him locked up = no death)

Don't worry, Shadow's pranks are pretty harmless in general but I'll consult with you before doing a prank. As for illusion stuff, I'm fine with plotting it out, but also I'll note that Shadow generally does illusions of stalking predators and such, so no caging stuff, just being followed/chased by dangerous animals. I'm also cool with not touching his dreams.

In the end, I'm interested in doing what's fun for both players.

It would depend on how you define predator, but Trunks has a very high level of Ki he keeps masked most of the time. But he definitely gives off attitude of a fighter and not easy prey at all.
If yes, what might she sense? Ki is sort of a culmination of life-force mixed with will mixed with soul energy. It's based on the real life 'ki/chi' concept, if that helps. He has an extremely high level of it, but usually keeps himself 'masked' so he appears no more or less strong than a normal human.
Can Shadow prank your character? I'd rather they didn't.
Can Shadow mess with your character with illusions/fear stuff? Nope. He has very real fears and has had a very rough life full of loss and deaths.

I know Shadow occasionally adds mammoths and such to dreams so she can hunt them, often in the background. Maybe something silly involving a super ki-powered mammoth?

She can't see it, she won't see it probably (he's very careful), but she might feel magic off of it. Aside from that, Prompto is constantly anxious. Said anxiety increases dramatically around social interaction. He's still new, he's not used to the train yet, so he hasn't found his footing.
Can Shadow prank your character? If it's the harmless types, he'll serve it right back. He has friends. He knows what to do.
Can Shadow mess with your character with illusions/fear stuff? She can, but she's probably going to find he does not react well at all to that. If she plays on his fears, they're deep and severe, including trauma he does not remember/know about.

Can Shadow sense things about your character (magic stuff, emotions especially fear, general mind detection, if they're a predator)? Go for it, although Auditi's naturally resistant to having psychic powers used on her, so she might be a little harder than expected to read.
If yes, what might she sense? Auditi's relatively hard to spook, although she's got a healthy caution of large predators and trained fighters. If Shadow picks up that much nuance, she might notice that while Auditi is scared of injury and death, she has relatively little fear of pain. She probably doesn't count as a predator; trolls are more physically dangerous than humans are, but everything on Alternia is more physically dangerous than things on Earth and they occupy a similar "opportunistic omnivore with a big tech advantage" in the Alternian ecosystem.
